ODBC/SQL
Syllabus:
This module will look at integrating Filemaker
with an Excel spreadsheet using commands such as
SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE. We will also
examine the way to setup up your ODBC settings,
and finally use the SQL plugin to enhance Filemakers
SQL abilities.
- Work with FileMaker Pro data from ODBC compliant
applications to create charts construct ad-hoc
queries and analyze your data with a variety
of software applications.
- Construct SQL queries in FileMaker Pro to
import data from other ODBC data sources like
Microsoft Access or Oracle databases.
FileMaker Pro is Level 1 ODBC compliant, with
limited Level 2 support. FileMaker Pro files supporting
a single connection and multiple statements per
connection. Access FileMaker Pro data from a number
of Windows ODBC client applications, like Microsoft
Office 97, BrioQuery 5.5, Net Objects Fusion 3.0,
and more. Access FileMaker Pro data from Mac OS
ODBC client applications like Microsoft Query, Microsoft
Excel 98, and BrioQuery 5.0FileMaker Pro supports
several SQL statements such as: SELECT statementUse
the SELECT statement to specify which columns you're
requesting. INSERT statementUse the INSERT SQL statement
to create records in a database table, and much
more..
